Other Maine Connections

This page is currently a placeholder. In the future, this page will feature links to CineMaine videos/posts about movies that have much looser connections to Maine than their setting. Whether it be something that was written by or directed by (or potentially both) someone from Maine, or is starring someone from Maine.

An example of a film connected to Maine through directors is the 2003 teen film The Battle of Shaker Heights. This film has two directors who are both connected to Maine. Efram Potelle is from Portland, while Kyle Rankin was a student at the University of Maine.

An example of a film connected to Maine through a leading actor is the recent slasher film Thanksgiving. This film stars Patrick Dempsey, is from originally from Lewiston. Though the film itself is not set in Maine, it is set in another New England state (Massachusetts), which in a way makes this Dempsey’s most Mainer-esque role.
